Ed Young's meticulous drawings, his outstanding color sense, and his sensitive painting and collage techniques have made him one of the top illustrators of the day. Ed's thoughtful writing is shown in a 1983 book without words, "Up a Tree," which is a brilliant philosophical discourse on poor judgment, fear, and and wish fulfillment through courage. I treasure the beautiful drawings and the meaning of the story, and the same is true of many other books he has made.
